Antacids, Laxatives & Digestive

The everyday digestive shelf — our most consistently reordered OTC category. Antacids: Alka-Seltzer Gold (historically our single most-ordered line) and famotidine-class reducers handle heartburn by different routes — calcium carbonate and famotidine work by different mechanisms — the labels explain each. Read labels for sodium load if you're on a salt restriction. Laxatives and stool softeners work in a hierarchy: docusate softens (gentle, slow), PEG 3350 powders draw water (reliable for regularity), bisacodyl and senna stimulate (rescue, not daily without guidance), magnesium oxide sits between. Anti-diarrheals (loperamide) slow the gut — do not use with fever or suspected infection. Enemas and suppositories are the fast-acting last line for impaction fear; pharmacy advice matters there.

Probiotics and digestive enzymes round out the aisle; evidence varies by strain, so we stock the well-studied ones and mark them honestly.

Two cautions we state plainly: if you're relying on these weekly, that's a conversation for your clinician, not a bigger case. And check the label's interaction notes — mineral supplements can affect absorption of some medications. Sizes are bottle and case; per-unit on each page. Questions? (614) 654-6591.
