Antiseptics & First Aid
The clean-up and protection shelf: antiseptic cleansers and skin preps, lubricating jellies, and premade first-aid kits. Antiseptics have specific jobs — chlorhexidine and povidone-iodine preps clean intact skin before procedures and around catheter or PEG sites; they are not for putting directly into deep open wounds without a clinician's direction, which is why wound-irrigation saline (see Gauze & Sponges partners) is what actually flushes a fresh injury. Benzalkonium chloride wipes remain the household standard for small cuts and scrapes.
Our first-aid kits are stocked for workplaces and day programs: burns, cuts, splinters, wraps, tape, scissors, gloves. ANSI-class kits for commercial sites are listed with their class on the page so a facility can buy to its compliance requirement without guessing. Refill packs are cheaper than replacing whole kits.
Basic sequence for a minor injury: irrigate with clean water or saline, apply antiseptic to the skin around the wound rather than into it, cover with a non-adherent dressing, change daily or when soaked. Anything deep, gaping, dirty with gravel, animal-bite, or on the face gets seen by a clinician — supplies don't replace that judgment.
