Medical Tape & Adhesives
The holding layer: cloth, paper, plastic and silicone tapes, binders, underwrap and adhesive removers. Quick guide by job — paper tape (Micropore) suits clean dry skin and frequent changes but fails with moisture; cloth (Permapiere) conforms and grips better on moving joints; plastic films are the waterproof option for shower-time coverage; silicone-based tapes and removers exist for the hardest cases — fragile skin, elderly patients, ostomy sites, neonates — where standard adhesive takes the epidermis with it. Underwrap (Kerlix-lite rolls, Alsoft) protects skin under casts, splints and compression wraps; binder secures dressings on hands and fingers.
Removal rule: pull parallel to the skin, not up and away, or use a silicone remover on anything adhesive on fragile skin. On discharge or nursing floors, tape blisters are an entirely preventable injury class.
We stock the standard widths (½, 1, 2 inch) by box and case with per-roll pricing shown. Cast tape and splinting materials live in Splints & Braces; this aisle is the wrapping and securing layer.
