Gauze & Sponges

Gauze is the default wound consumable: sterile pads for cleansing and packing, rolled gauze for secondary dressing and support wrapping, and non-woven sponges for higher-absorbent contact. Sizes run from 2Ă—2 dressings to 4Ă—4 pads; rolled gauze comes 2, 4 and 6 inches wide by the yard. Sterile versus clean is the decision that confuses buyers most: for acute wounds and packing, use sterile; for cleaning around a wound, for wrapping a healed abrasion, or for absorbent outer layers that won't touch the wound bed, non-sterile is fine and cheaper by the case.

Dry gauze against a wound bed is why non-adherent contact layers exist (see Bandages & Dressings) — gauze works best as the filler and outer layer. Change frequency follows your clinician's plan; if a dressing is stuck or soaked through, that's the flag to address.

Boxes run 200 to 4,000 pieces; per-piece pricing is on every listing so case math is honest. Facilities with weekly Gauze consumption should talk standing orders: /pages/for-facilities. Questions? (614) 654-6591.
